Get Your Creative Juices Flowing with this Sparkler!

“The beginning of the year is the time many individuals and organizations pause to reflect on the prior year and plan for the year that is just beginning. The first month of the year provides a wonderful time to take a fresh approach to problem solving. This is a perfect opportunity to consider ways that creativity and innovation can be applied during the year ahead.” – Randall Munson, CSP, Founder International Creativity Month

Have you ever thought that just because you aren’t a do-it-yourselfer or a crafter that you aren’t creative?  Does being creative require you to be artistic?  Not necessarily.  Creativity is the ability to transcend traditional ideas and the ability to create meaningful new ideas. While that might be even more challenging than taking on a craft project, creativity starts in the mind, with inspiration, and manifests itself with the determination to try something new.

Maybe you’re looking for ways to curb your sweet tooth and want to find alternatives for your afternoon treat.

Maybe you’re a Mom or Dad desperately looking for a way to get the kids out the door and off to school on time.

Perhaps take-out and delivery have become a bit of a routine and you’re looking for a way to keep your fridge stocked with healthy choices and easily prepped meals.

Or maybe, just maybe, you’ve been drinking the same old can of soda and would like to find new and healthier ways to enjoy a sparkling beverage (don’t worry…we’ve got a recipe for you at the end of this post).

Whatever the challenge, all that is required is an idea and the courage to put that plan into action.  If you’re a little bit old-school, you might remember MacGyver. MacGyver played a hero of sorts who went about righting wrongs in the world with sometimes little more than a paper clip and some duct tape. The lesson here was that often the worst problems or predicaments just require a little creativity.

Be like MacGyver

MacGyver: all he needed was a ball-point pen and a paper clip.

As we near the end of “Resolution Month” for 2017, challenge yourself to be creative.  If there’s a process or a routine that could be improved, get creative and make a change.  If you’re part of a team, brainstorm for a solution so that everyone is encouraged and allowed to be creative.  If you’re on your own – be brave. And if you’re thirsty, try this recipe.
