Summer is here and it‘s time to get outside, have some fun, and make some memories!
No need for expensive and elaborate vacation plans. Check out this list of 9 simple Summer activities to do with friends and family to make your summer unforgettable without the fuss!
1. Check out your local County Fair
Animals, rides, and long days – nothing says summer like the County Fair. Ticket prices are a lot less expensive than big amusement park fees.
2. Go for a swim
Be it the beach, a lake, or a pool – make a day of it. Be sure to pack some sunscreen and a good book.
3. Go on a hike with the family
This is a“twofer”– family time and exercise! Win!
4. Take a scenic bike ride
Cruise a beach promenade, barrel down a mountain, or join a Bike Party. However you ride, get pedaling and explore your world!
5. Shop your local farmers market for produce to keep you hydrated
Cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, pineapples, watermelons, and strawberries all contain over 90% percent of water!
6. Host a backyard BBQ for friends and family
Keep costs down by making it a potluck!
Whether you head to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, or places in between, remember, it’s the journey (as well as the destination) that matters most.
8. Visit your nearest National Park

Our National Parks are among the country’s crowning jewels. 411 areas covering more than 84 million acres of outdoor space is reserved for our enjoyment, education, and inspiration. Our National Park Service turns 100 on August 25, 2016, find out how you can join in the celebration here.
9. Enjoy our national pastime by supporting your home team and take in a baseball game.
Many cities have Minor League teams where families can enjoy quality baseball at much lower prices than a Major League ballpark.
